Richard Hamstra – MscBA
CEO
Richard Hamstra combines experience in finance, law, and business development. With a background in Management, Economics, and Law (MER, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen) and Business Administration (University of Groningen), he has held positions as a financial advisor at ING and private banker, as well as account manager for major corporate clients at Rabobank. Since 2018, he has been co-owner of the Veni Group, where he focuses on real estate and corporate financing.
prof.dr. Patrick van Rijn
CTO
Prof.dr. Patrick van Rijn leads a research group within the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University Medical Center Groningen. He focuses on the interaction between materials and cells, aiming to develop materials that can control biological functions. His research uses BiomACS technology to address questions of stem cell differentiation, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Van Rijn, with a background in chemistry from the University of Groningen and a PhD from Delft University of Technology, combines materials science with biomedical issues. dr. Roderick de Hilster
Senior Product Manager
Roderick de Hilster is our driven product manager at BiomACS. With a PhD in medical biology focusing on in vitro 3D model systems for research into lung diseases and his postdoctoral research in the field of cell-material interactions in 3D-printed bone implants, he brings not only in-depth knowledge but also a true passion for research and innovation to our team. As product manager, he strives to bring our projects to a successful conclusion through tight coordination, effective communication, and a focus on quality. By promoting a culture of creativity and collaboration, he ensures that our team is driven by a common goal: to deliver groundbreaking solutions that meet the needs of our customers and the market.
Aniek Spa
Product Manager
Aniek Spa completed her Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Science, Business & Policy at the University of Groningen. She brings a strong combination of scientific knowledge and a passion for innovation to the BiomACS team. During her master’s program, she conducted research in the field of immunology and worked on market research for a startup, focusing on the practical application of science. Aniek’s passion lies in translating scientific insights into concrete solutions. As a product manager, she uses her analytical insight, organizational skills, and enthusiasm to ensure the success of projects, with a focus on collaboration, innovation, and impact on health and society.
